Bagnaia, Martin, Bezzecchi or Marc Marquez: who will take the 2024 MotoGP crown?

Pecco Bagnaia will hunt for a hattrick in 2024. But the Italian will probably have to race harder than ever for his third MotoGP world title in a row. Alongside Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, Marc Marquez will also be on a Ducati rocket in 2024. Will Ducati stay on top or can another manufacturer take the crown? 22 Grand Prix events with 44 races will decide who is the strongest. You can visit the Grand Prix events with SportTravel from the first race in Qatar until the final round in Valencia.

All eyes on Marc Marquez

The top-four riders of the 2023 MotoGP season will stay with their current teams. That means Pecco Bagnaia will make an attempt to prolong his title with the Ducati factory team. Bagnaia can expect the biggest opposition from his fellow Ducati riders. Last year, Jorge Martin was the strongest in the second half of the season and battled with Bagnaia for the title until the season final in Valencia. If Marco Bezzecchi - riding for Valentino Rossi's VR46 team - can become a little more consistent, he is definitely an outsider for the title. The same goes for Brad Binder, who was fourth in 2023 MotoGP World Championship. But the biggest threat to the 2023 top riders comes from the Ducati box of Gresini Racing, where Marc Marquez will take a seat alongside his brother Alex. After ten years with Repsol Honda, the eight-time world champion is switching to Ducati with the aim of competing for the MotoGP world title again. Marc Marquez's first test with the Ducati was very promising.

Many transfers

Besides Marc Marquez, more riders are switching teams. Luca Marini will take Marc Marquez his seat at Repsol Honda. Together with Joan Mir, Marini hopes to bring Honda back to the top. Johann Zarco will try to help them. The Frenchman will race for LCR Honda. Franco Morbidelli will take his place in the Pramac Ducati box alongside Martin. The arrival of Marc Marquez at Gresini Ducati left no place for Fabio Di Giannantoni. However, the Italian had a very strong end of the 2023 season which earned him a seat alongside Bezzecchi at VR46. Alex Rins becomes Fabio Quartararo's teammate at the Yamaha factory team. Moto2 superstar Pedro Acosta will make his MotoGP debut at GasGas Tech3, KTM's satellite team. There aren’t rider changes at Aprilia. Only CryptoDATA RNF is no longer the Aprilia satellite team. Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez will race in the American colours of Trackhouse. It promises to be busy on the transfer market very early in the season, because almost all riders are out of contract at the end of 2024.

Great calendar

The MotoGP Sprint proved to be a great addition to a race weekend. Also in 2024 there will be a sprint race during every Grand Prix. In total there are 22 events with 44 MotoGP races on the 2024 calendar. The season will start again as usual in Qatar. Last year, the race under the lights was later on the calendar, because of a great upgrade of the circuit. The first European round will be in Portimão (Portugal) at the end of March. SportTravel's home race is during the TT Assen at the end of June. After a long overseas route, the MotoGP season traditionally concludes in Valencia in November. The only new Grand Prix on the calendar is at the Sokol International Racetrack in Kazakhstan.
