The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, often simply referred to as Montmeló, is located approximately 20 kilometres north of Barcelona. Its location close to both the Catalan capital and the Mediterranean coast makes it an ideal destination for combining MotoGP with a few days in Spain.

The circuit opened in 1991 and quickly became one of Spain's most important motorsport venues. Its construction also coincided with the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, when part of the circuit was used for the start and finish of the road cycling team time trial.

Motorcycle Grand Prix racing arrived at Montmeló in 1992, and the circuit has since become a familiar fixture on the World Championship calendar. Formula 1 has also been a regular visitor for decades.

The current MotoGP layout is approximately 4.66 kilometres long and combines a long main straight with fast sweeping sections, technical corners and heavy braking zones. This variety provides a real challenge for the riders and plenty of action for spectators.

Another major advantage of Catalunya is the circuit's open layout. Several grandstands provide views across multiple corners, allowing you to follow a large part of the action from your seat.

Our favourite: Grandstand G

For our SportTravel groups, we reserve seats on Grandstand G. It offers excellent views across a large section of the circuit, allowing you to watch the MotoGP bikes for a considerable part of each lap.

A great alternative is Grandstand M, another excellent location for getting close to the action.
